Ikea's Affordable Fast Chargers: Too Good to be True?

There are affordable options, and then there's Ikea's newest

Ikea is well-known for its reasonably priced, disassembled furniture, but it now sells chargers and smart lights, among other electronics. The store has launched a brand-new line of quick USB chargers at a price that will be difficult for rival businesses to match.

For a 30W USB-C charger, the Sjöss, which is the name for both the single and double port models, is reasonably priced at $7.99.

Chargers with a single fast-charging specification were not released by Ikea. Rather, Power Delivery (PD 3.0), Quick Charge (QC4+), and Programmable Power Supply (PPS) are supported by both Sjöss models, making them compatible with a wide range of devices.

While the model with two USB-C ports enables 45W charging rates while just one port is in use and 22W for each port when charging two devices at once, the single port Sjöss only supports 30W charging speeds.

Ikea is superior in this regard than Anker, a well-known brand when it comes to reasonably priced chargers. The lowest fast charger available from Anker costs $14 and only provides 20W. You will have to spend $20 on an Anker charger if you want the 30W model. Aukey is another business that makes inexpensive chargers; their USB-C charger with PD support costs $18. Even if you stick with Amazon Basics, a USB-C charger that supports PD will set you back $14.

The Ikea chargers have stickers that you may use to identify the charger as belonging to you. If you share a charger with family members or roommates, this can be useful. The box has stickers on it that are green, orange, and blue. It's a pleasant addition to not have to worry about which charger belongs to you, even if it's not a feature that will change the game (provided you remember which color sticker you use).

Along with the charger, the furniture giant also provides a reasonably priced USB-C cable. If you don't already have enough USB cables lying around your house, getting the Lillhult USB-C to USB-C cable might not be a terrible idea. It costs $7.99. A Lighting cable is also available, however it costs $12.99, which is a little more.

While the single-port variant is currently listed as unavailable for delivery, both power bricks are currently available for purchase. (However, it could be available in your neighborhood Ikea shop.) You can avoid going to your neighborhood Ikea shop by ordering the dual-port option instead—after all, visiting Ikea is always a fun experience.
