In the US, Samsung has started distributing the April Update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
According to Samsung's official changelog, the new version, which has the firmware build numbers F946USQS2CXCL and F731USQS2CXCL, respectively, focuses mostly on correcting security concerns. In the US, the update is limited to unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 devices.
In the April 2024 update for Galaxy smartphones, over forty security flaws in the phone's software were fixed. Google has released over thirty Android OS fixes, one of which is a crucial remedy. The remaining patches are security issues unique to the Galaxy and are supplied directly by Samsung. Although the exact date of the patch's release for US unlocked devices is unknown, it is most likely to happen this month.

When compared to the March update and the most recent One UI 6.1 version, which extended the Galaxy AI capabilities from the Galaxy S24 series to other devices, the April update does seem to be somewhat small. on example, Circle to Search has now become available on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. On a Galaxy S23 Ultra, we also loaded the One UI 6.1 upgrade and discovered that it was equally as nice as the S24 Ultra. Additionally, there aren't as many security patches as there were in the March update—roughly sixty total.
This upgrade isn't only for Samsung phones, either. The Google Pixel received an April update that brought with it a number of camera enhancements, one of which fixed an issue with the Pixel 8 that prevented users from accessing automated exposure changes when they pressed the screen to focus their photo. This update also came out at the same time as the April update for the Pixel Watch, which included a new function that lets it tell time by haptic feedback.
Security updates are not the most frequent and frequently go neglected. They do, however, present consumers with the greatest opportunity to safeguard their gadgets against developing data and device safety risks.
