Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim May Launch with Galaxy S25

There may yet be a third Samsung foldable on the road, despite rumors that the low-cost Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE has been discontinued. According to analyst and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants Ross Young, Samsung is developing the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, a bigger foldable that ostensibly does not support the S Pen.

Young estimates that panel exports will take place in Q4 2024, allowing production to start in advance of a potential Q1 2025 release. If that's accurate, the Samsung Galaxy S25 and this foldable may be released simultaneously.

Young claims to know the screen size but doesn't provide much other specifics regarding the gadget. These, nevertheless, will remain for the next Foldable Report from the DSCC. Young did, however, note that this foldable will be thinner than current Samsung foldables since it does not include a digitizer, which interprets S Pen input.

Remarkably, Young also asserts that the upcoming foldable may go by the name Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, a possibility about which there have previously been reports. Young says the name hasn't been selected yet, but the "Ultra" nickname doesn't make much sense based only on this information.

A phone that has less functions than its competitors isn't very ultra. Removing functionality is, if anything, what you would anticipate from a Samsung FE series device, along with a few additional compromises and a cheaper price. However, we are unable to draw any firm conclusions at this time because to the lack of more information on the potential features of this hypothetical foldable.

The big question is how much this new Z Fold 6 Slim might cost.

How much the new Z Fold 6 Slim may cost is the main question. Years have passed since there have been rumors of a less expensive foldable, and for a time it looked like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE might satisfy those rumors. Regretfully, the phone appears to be canceled, leaving us to question when the cost of foldables with bigger screens will start to decline.

Maybe this is the phone we've all been waiting for—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim. But I'm not sure because I have my reservations about it being an Ultra model. Regretfully, we won't be learning much more about it anytime soon. Definitely not prior to the Galaxy Z Fold 6's release.
