Galaxy Unpacked Summer 2024 Latest News

Updated July 3

  • New leaks have revealed the camera and updated design of the Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • A leak has revealed potential health tracking features for the Galaxy Ring.
  • A leaker posted images of several potential Galaxy Unpacked announcements.
  • Samsung is running a promotion offering a $50 credit if you register to preorder devices announced at Unpacked.

The next Galaxy Unpacked may now officially be scheduled. Samsung hosts two of them events annually, one in the summer and one in the beginning of the year. It's time for the second Galaxy Unpacked, after the first one was released in January. Additionally, this variant is occurring far sooner than typical.

Samsung normally doesn't host its end-of-summer product reveal until late July or even later. However, since Samsung is one of the event's sponsors and the Paris Olympics are quickly approaching, we're getting a sneak peek at every product that will soon be available for purchase near you.

That will include foldable phones — the summer Unpacked event almost always introduces new foldables — but there's even more potential product announcements on tap for July. Everything from new smartwatches to the long-awaited launch of the Galaxy Ring is on the table. And as you might expect, AI features are a big part of the agenda, too.

Below is a summary of the possible announcements that Samsung is expected to make at Galaxy Unpacked, along with the official date of the event.

Galaxy Unpacked Cheat Sheet: Biggest Expected Announcements

  • Galaxy Z Fold 6: An update to Samsung's larger foldable phone, with a potential second model on the cards too.
  • Galaxy Z Flip 6: The smaller Galaxy foldable, possibly receiving a larger cover screen.
  • Galaxy Ring: Samsung's first smart ring, designed to track your health quietly in the background.
  • Galaxy Watch 7: A new standard smartwatch that may get a brand new look and boosted power efficiency.
  • Galaxy Watch Ultra: Another brand new device, aimed at being a more rugged and premium smartwatch.
  • Galaxy Buds 3: Expected in standard and Pro varieties, these earbuds are both due for an upgrade, even though the rumor mill's been a little quiet.

GALAXY UNPACKED DATE AND HOW TO WATCH

The next Galaxy Unpacked will take place on Wednesday, July 10 at 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. BST, according to confirmation from Samsung. This July 10 date is consistent with a report regarding Unpacked's earlier-than-usual date; last year, the summer Unpacked event took place on July 26.

We brought up Samsung's eagerness to host Galaxy Unpacked in front of the Olympics in Paris. That's because the location of Unpacked is Paris. Give Samsung credit for shaking things up; the debut of the Galaxy S24 in January 2024 took place in San Jose, California, while the event of last year was held in Seoul, South Korea.

Are you worried that the major announcement won't make it to the City of Lights? Fear not—Samsung will be streaming Galaxy Unpacked live on YouTube. In order to cover all of the product announcements made at the show, we'll also be at Galaxy Unpacked.

Foldable phones ought to take center stage at the next Unpacked event, if previous product announcements are any guide. But Samsung probably won't limit its attention to the newest Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices.

No matter what Samsung says, you may already get a good deal on the new items. In addition to receiving a $50 credit toward your purchase, if you register to pre-order anything unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked, you may save up to $1,500 if you decide to follow through on the pre-order. For the time being, all you need to do on Samsung's website is provide your name and email address.

GALAXY Z FOLD 6

It seems quite likely that Samsung will introduce an updated version of the Galaxy Z Fold, their flagship folding device. The greatest mystery surrounding Unpacked is the potential number of Fold models.

However, let's discuss the most likely Galaxy Z Fold 6 modifications before delving into that query. It is quite likely that the next foldable phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which has shown to be a powerful and energy-efficient processor in previous top Android phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 could have a titanium frame with a more streamlined appearance, just like that phone.

The design of Past Folds' cover display, which is tall, thin, and challenging to use with one hand, has drawn criticism. According to rumors, the Z Fold 6 will resemble the OnePlus Open, which is now our top choice for the greatest foldable phone, in terms of aspect ratio. Although we don't anticipate many hardware improvements to cameras, we do believe that Samsung's Galaxy AI push will result in a plethora of AI-powered applications. Samsung has stated as much, and the invitation to Galaxy Unpacked has the Galaxy AI logo.

Put aside future versions such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, a less costly variant of Samsung's $1,799 foldable. Samsung has reportedly shelved preparations for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE because to worries about how thin the phone may be and if there would be enough separation from the main model, despite some speculations to the contrary. It's still feasible that the less expensive foldable will be released with the Galaxy S25 in 2019.

The rumors that the cost of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may increase are more worrisome. A $100 price increase over the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is alleged by one source.

GALAXY Z FLIP 6

One can virtually always expect a Galaxy Z Flip to appear whenever a new Galaxy Z Fold model does. It's possible that Samsung may highlight the Galaxy Z Flip 6 at Galaxy Unpacked 2024 when it unveils its newest foldable device, which resembles a flip phone.

Even while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 appears to have a somewhat bulkier body than its predecessors, early renderings show that it may have a larger battery. (Flip models' battery life has continuously been below average.) Samsung may potentially increase the primary camera sensor on the phone from 12MP to 50MP in an effort to enhance the Flip's standing as a photography phone. Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset appears like it will eventually be used.

The major Galaxy Z Flip 5 update from the previous year was increasing the phone's external display to 3.4 inches. According to one report, the Galaxy X Flip 6 would include a 3.9-inch cover display that will let you accomplish more without opening the phone.

Similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, there are claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will cost more than the model from the previous year.

We now get a clearer look at the Galaxy Z Flip 6's revised design thanks to a new leak. The majority of these photos feature the phone's outside display, both partially open and folded up. However, that doesn't stop us from learning more about the internal components of the phone.

GALAXY RING

Samsung's effort to compete with the Oura Ring and other ring-based fitness trackers, the Galaxy Ring, was teased at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked presentation in January. Samsung has not yet disclosed the ring's features or set a release date, but this summer's Unpacked presentation seems like the ideal chance to make things right.

Since Samsung has displayed the ring at upcoming trade events, we are aware that there will be three color options and nine sizes available for your 3-gram wearable. Features including an ECG sensor, sleep tracking tools, and a blood flow measurement device are rumored to be included. Anticipate intelligent functionalities for managing more Samsung electronics as well. More recently, there was a leak that revealed the inclusion of temperature monitoring, snoring detection, and heart-rate monitoring among the health-tracking capabilities of the Galaxy Ring.

Over at Galaxy Unpacked this summer, there may be a chance to complete yet another jigsaw piece in the Galaxy Ring. Finally, Samsung could let us know how much a Galaxy Ring should cost. (We estimate it to be around $300.)

GALAXY WATCH 7

Samsung smartwatches have already accompanied foldable phones to the forefront of Unpacked presentations in the summer, and this is probably going to happen again. There have already been rumors about an unveiling in July regarding the Galaxy Watch 7, which is said to be speedier and more durable than its predecessor.

According to reports, the Exynos W940 processor, which offers superior performance and more power economy, will be used in the Galaxy Watch 7 models, extending the battery life of Samsung's wearable device. The most requested function is sleep apnea detection, and you can expect that the watch will be compatible with the Galaxy Ring.

Samsung is reportedly considering a square design for the Galaxy Watch 7, departing from its previous preference for a rounder appearance. It's likely that Samsung will release a variety of styles with the square form saved for the far more potent Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra—a watch that can allegedly detect blood sugar levels. Samsung has effectively acknowledged that an Ultra is being developed, however details about its specifications and cost are still unclear.

GALAXY WATCH ULTRA

In the past, Samsung has experimented with more expensive smartwatches, such the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. However, a new Galaxy Watch Ultra model that is intended to compete with Apple's Apple Watch Ultra 2 may be released this year.

The design appears to contain Samsung's standard round watch face in a squarer 47mm case with a bright orange crown; it is expected to retail for $700. A large battery, a 100-meter water resistance, and maybe blood sugar monitoring should also be anticipated.

GALAXY BUDS 3 AND GALAXY BUDS PRO 3

Samsung hasn't released any new earbuds in a while; the Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Buds Pro 2 were released in 2021 and 2023, respectively. Though it could just be a reflection of the nature of these audio accessories, rumors concerning either pair of earbuds aren't exactly rife the way that Samsung's foldables, smartwatches, and ring have gained a lot of attention.

You would think that, given Samsung's emphasis on Galaxy AI features, earbuds from the future will include audio features like to these. In fact, a recent source indicates that AI may play a significant role in the development of the next Galaxy Buds; an earlier rumor said that the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will include translation capabilities.
