ElectronicBD Verdict
Within a sleek, attractive design, the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 offers a powerful blend of performance and power economy. Even if the power cable is a touch short and the device struggles to run games, those who can overlook these drawbacks will be rewarded with an AMOLED-equipped 2-in-1 ultraportable that's comfortable to carry during the workday or academic day.

Pros

  • Lovely AMOLED touchscreen
  • Great performance
  • Good battery life
  • Thin and light design is easy to carry

Cons

  • Frustratingly short power cable
  • Poor gaming performance

The first laptop in the line to use one of the new Intel Meteor Lake CPUs is the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 ($1,899), which lets this excellent ultraportable achieve even higher battery life.

I know this because over the years, I've tested a number of iterations of this 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop. While I've always loved the Galaxy Book Pro 360's ultraportable form and stunning AMOLED screen, I've been dissatisfied with its battery life in more recent models.

With the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, that isn't the case. One of the greatest 2-in-1 laptops Samsung produces has proudly returned to form, and in my opinion, it offers such a delightful balance of mobility, performance, and power economy that it is deserving of our Editor's Choice award.

I'll explain why I think this way and what I like and don't like about this stylish 2-in-1 ultraportable Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360: Quick Cheat Sheet Review

  • What's that? A free pen is offered with the 16-inch 2-in-1 Windows 11 notebook, Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360.
  • For whom is it intended? Anyone looking for an AMOLED touchscreen, lightweight, flexible Windows laptop for business, schoolwork, or creative pursuits.
  • How much does it cost? Although you may buy it for less by trading in existing gadgets through Samsung's website, the laptop starts at $1,899 in price.
  • What makes it good? Using the included S Pen pen, the AMOLED touchscreen feels wonderful to tap on and has a beautiful appearance. Additionally, you get respectable performance and a long battery life in a sleek, somewhat portable chassis.
  • What's lacking in quality? This laptop is neither ideal for demanding tasks, such as professional video editing, nor is it fantastic for playing the newest and greatest games. Furthermore, the pre-installed Samsung applications are essentially unnecessary bloatware if you're not already sucked into the Samsung Galaxy app ecosystem. Furthermore, it is not really possible to change the laptop's componentry.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 Review: Key Advantages

Since its release, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 series of 2-in-1 laptops has been among the best available from Samsung, and its most recent model boasts an even longer battery life than its predecessors.

Great performance

When our Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 review sample was delivered, it had an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, which helped it outperform its predecessors in terms of performance.

Performance Test Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 Dell XPS 16 MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023
Single Core 2,308 2,372 3,158
Multi Core 11,979 13,384 12,015

Our Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 outperformed the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360 in the Geekbench 6 CPU benchmarks, as you can see from the test results chart above. Even while it was not able to match the competition, the Book 4 Pro 360 was quite close to both the reasonably cost Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023 and the more expensive Dell XPS 16.

My own experience with this laptop, which seems more than fast enough for light gaming and daily work, is supported by this. I can spend all day writing, browsing the web, and playing lighter games without any problems, but I can't play Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty or do extensive video editing without having to make significant performance sacrifices.

Good battery life

In our Tom's Guide battery test, our Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 review unit lasted slightly more than 12 hours, which is about twice as long as the laptop can run for while continuously browsing the web over Wi-Fi with its brightness down.

While 12 hours isn't as long as the finest MacBooks will last, it's still rather decent for a Windows laptop that doesn't include one of Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X CPUs, which drains the battery.

Device Battery Life (hours:mins)
Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 12:04
Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge 9:56
Dell XPS 16 10:44
Dell XPS 13 19:41
MacBook Pro 14-inch M2 Pro 14:02
MacBook Pro 14-inch M2 Max 12:51
MacBook Pro 14-inch M3 17:25

Furthermore, it performs noticeably better than the Galaxy Book 3 Pro 360, which was only able to last about 8 hours in the same battery test. That was a little annoying because the Galaxy Book Pro 360's thin profile and productivity emphasis make it perfect for working on-the-go for a full day, but with the previous model, you had to carry the charger around if you anticipated being gone for longer than four to six hours.

With the latest Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, that isn't the case. You may leave the charger at home because this laptop should easily last you through an eight-hour workday or a full day of school.

Beautiful AMOLED touchscreen

The Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360's 16-inch 3K (2,880x1,800 pixels) AMOLED touchscreen is stunning, and it makes a big difference when you spend hours looking at it.

This display is amazing; it not only makes everything appear fantastic, with vivid colors and striking contrasts between light and dark, but it also makes using the laptop simpler because it allows you to freely reach out and touch your work.

Having a touchscreen on a laptop is quite helpful for me since I have overuse problems in both hands. It allows me to take my hands off the keyboard, trackpad, or mouse when they need a rest and tap or swipe instead. I'm thus particularly attuned to a decent touchscreen, and I can confirm that the AMOLED touchscreen on the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 feels precise and snappy.

Display Test Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 Dell XPS 16 MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023
sRGB Color Gamut 113.8% 114.7% 114.5%
DCI-P3 Color Gamut 80.6% 81.2% 81.1%
Average Brightness (nits) 390.4 408.8 555.8

And as you can see from the test results table above, in terms of both color reproduction and brightness, our Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 review unit is competitive with the more costly Dell XPS 16 OLED that we tested earlier this year ($3,399 as reviewed). For sheer brightness, Apple's MacBooks continue to be superior.

Thin and light design

Because they fit a 16-inch OLED screen into a comparatively light and thin chassis, Samsung's Galaxy Book Pro 360 notebooks have always appealed to me. This most recent model is no exception.

The dimensions of the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 are 14 x 9.9 x 0.5 inches, making it almost as thin as the MacBook Air 13-inch. Despite weighing one pound more, it has a noticeably larger display—an exquisite AMOLED touchscreen, to be exact. Additionally, a Samsung S Pen pen is included with the laptop at no additional cost.

If you want an ultraportable AMOLED Windows 11 laptop, this is an excellent option because there aren't many Windows laptops at this price that are this light, thin, and have such a good screen.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 Review: Drawbacks

Although the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 is the greatest model in years, there are some issues with it. Before making a purchase, be aware of the following issues that I ran across when using this laptop.

Poor gaming performance

Given the internal hardware, this shouldn't be shocking, but the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 isn't the ideal device for playing PC games.

Don't get me wrong, I had no trouble passing the time during the evaluation process by playing simpler games like Endless Legend or Dicey Dungeons. You can spend hours playing your favorite low-graphics games on this laptop if you're a fan of them.

Game Test Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 Dell XPS 16 MacBook Pro 14-inch 2023
Sid Meier's Civilization VI @ 1080p 36.1 FPS 128.4 FPS 50 FPS

However, as you can see from our test results above, even a relatively ancient game like Sid Meier's Civilization VI won't run flawlessly on this laptop. Thus, while you might enjoy yourself much when playing games on this system, don't expect them to perform smoothly.

Short, awkward power cable

If only this laptop had USB-C ports on either side, it would be less frustrating to plug in. (Image credit: Future)

A power cable, approximately six feet in length, was included with our review sample of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360, which connects to one of the USB-C ports on the laptop.

If the laptop had USB-C ports on both sides, I think this would be plenty; but, because they are only on the left edge, the six-foot power cable is unexpectedly limited in situations when power is only accessible on your right. I know this because I frequently work remotely from coffee shops or libraries, where the closest power outlet is frequently a few feet away. I also frequently work from a kitchen table with only one power outlet on the right side.

With a laptop like the Dell XPS 16, which has USB-C ports you can use for charging on both sides of the device in addition to having a longer charging cable than the Samsung, that won't be an issue. This implies that you will always be able to run your charging wire from either side of the laptop and have enough of space to extend it to a power outlet, regardless of how uncomfortable your seat is at the library or on the airplane.

I hope our review of the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 has helped you understand why I adore this laptop.

Given that there aren't many 16-inch Windows laptops that are light and thin with AMOLED touchscreens that retail for less than $2,000, it's significant that the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 manages to combine decent battery life (12 hours tested) with quick performance. The complimentary stylus that Samsung is offering with that gorgeous AMOLED screen is the cherry on top.

Although having to consider the length of the power line when I need to charge while on the road might be a bit annoying, I seldom ever need to carry the charger because of the excellent battery life. Furthermore, even if this laptop struggles to run my favorite games, it wasn't made to compete with the greatest gaming laptops in the first place.

No, Samsung bills these laptops as 2-in-1 big-screen productivity devices that you can use after work to binge-watch your favorite TV program and charge spreadsheets during the day. Furthermore, having used one personally, I can confidently state that the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360 outperforms its predecessor in crucial areas like performance and battery life, making it the perfect laptop for such undertakings. This is a fantastic option if you're looking for a gorgeous 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop with an AMOLED display.
